* The S12500 series supports Virtual eXtensible LAN (Extensible Virtual Local Area Network) technology, which is the Layer 2 VPN technology based on IP networks and uses MAC in UDP encapsulation. Based on the existing service provider or enterprise IP network, the VXLAN can provide Layer 2 interconnection for scattered physical sites and isolate services for different tenants.

S12500 series switches support the Multichassis Link Aggregation Group (M-LAG) cross-device link aggregation technology (the original DRNI technology). By virtualizing two physical devices into one device at the forwarding layer, the cross-device link aggregation is realized and the control layer is independent. This improves board level reliability to device level reliability.

* Multi-level protection and security of the control plane. The control plane policy feature of the S12500 manages the packet flow from the data plane (DP) to the control plane (CP) by configuring QoS filtering and rate limiting.
